Ricciardo is determined to stay with RB in 2025.
The chances of Daniel Ricciardo being on the Formula 1 grid in 2025 depend on his decision to remain with RB, as he has stated that he is not actively pursuing other opportunities.
The future of Ricciardo beyond this season is uncertain, as Red Bull considers whether to keep him or promote reserve driver Liam Lawson to a full-time position.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has increased the pressure on Ricciardo by suggesting that the company’s shareholders want to see younger drivers integrated into the team.
Although Ricciardo initially intended to return to the parent Red Bull team, his inconsistent performance has closed the door on that possibility.
However, the Australian driver has expressed his desire to partner with Yuki Tsunoda at RB in 2025 and is not making alternative plans in case that doesn’t happen.
When asked if he had other options, Ricciardo replied, “I would say no. I mean, I don’t know. I’m not looking anywhere else, not to be stubborn or arrogant about it.
“I’ve mentioned before that I really enjoy being back in the Red Bull family.
“Sometimes, I even appreciate a little push from Helmut, as it can motivate me and bring out the best in me.”
Several drivers who are uncertain about their future have mentioned that they are waiting for Carlos Sainz’s decision on 2025, which is delaying their own moves.
However, Ricciardo has explained that he is avoiding distractions from the F1 driver market as he focuses on delivering results on the track to secure his RB seat.
Despite RB’s announcement that a decision will be made during the summer, the eight-time grand prix winner is not worried that it would be too late to find another drive.
When asked if he was concerned that all the available seats could be taken if RB decided to replace him, Ricciardo replied, “No.
“I may sound casual, but I don’t want to be casual about it because I care a lot. But I don’t know.
“Maybe I’ve reached a point where I’m accepting of whatever will be, will be.
“I’m giving my all in terms of effort and performance, and if that’s enough to secure me a seat, great.
“If not, then okay, I did everything I could.
“I think if I start focusing on the musical chairs aspect, I need to redirect all my attention here. It’s as simple as that.”
