Paraguay to Host Thrilling Inaugural World Rally Championship Event

Get ready for a heart-pounding experience as Paraguay gears up to host its first-ever World Rally Championship round later this year. The 2025 season will see Paraguay making its WRC debut in style, with the country set to welcome round 10 on 28-31 August. Organizers have unveiled the route for this historic event, showcasing an expanded 14-round calendar for 2025 following a multi-year agreement.

The rally will be based in the vibrant city of Encarnacion, nestled in Paraguay’s south-east on the border with Argentina. Drivers and fans alike can expect a thrilling 951.59 kilometers of adrenaline-pumping action, including 334.52 competitive kilometers spread across 19 challenging stages.

Friday will kick off with the longest leg of the rally, featuring 140.90 competitive kilometers, including two passes of the rally’s longest stage, Yerbatera (30km). Saturday will take participants deeper into Paraguay’s interior with 113.60km of stages, leading to a grand finale on Sunday with four more tests to conclude the event in style.

The excitement doesn’t stop there, as Paraguay joins the WRC alongside two other new rounds this year, including the upcoming visit to the Canary Islands (24-27 April). This move comes after a decision to elevate the asphalt event from the European Rally Championship to the prestigious World Rally Championship.

As the 2025 season unfolds, all eyes are on the grand finale set to take place in Saudi Arabia (27-30 November). The Middle East will see the return of the WRC after a decade-long hiatus, with Saudi Arabia hosting a 12-stage test event from May 1-3 in preparation for its WRC debut.

With anticipation building and the stage set for an unforgettable WRC debut in Paraguay, motorsport enthusiasts around the globe are in for a treat as the world’s best drivers gear up to conquer the challenging terrains of South America’s newest WRC destination.
