NASCAR Shakeup: Drivers React to Championship Race Venue Change

In a groundbreaking move, NASCAR has announced the return of the Championship Weekend to the beloved Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2026. This decision has sent shockwaves of excitement throughout the racing community, with top drivers eagerly anticipating the shift back to this iconic venue.

One of the sport’s biggest stars, Chase Elliott from Hendrick Motorsports, has expressed his full support for NASCAR’s choice. Elliott emphasized the importance of rotating the finale location and bringing back the thrill of racing at different tracks. His sentiment was echoed by Christopher Bell from Joe Gibbs Racing, who believes that rotating between tracks for the championship event should have happened a long time ago.

Bubba Wallace, the talented driver from 23XI Racing, also welcomed the return of Homestead-Miami to the Championship Race. Wallace, known for his impressive performances at the 1.5-mile track, described it as a favorite among drivers and emphasized the significance of continuing to rotate venues.

William Byron, another Hendrick Motorsports standout, shared his thoughts on the optimal venues for the Championship Weekend. While Byron favored Charlotte Motor Speedway, he acknowledged the appeal of tracks like Homestead-Miami, Vegas, and Phoenix for their favorable climate conditions.

AJ Allmendinger, the experienced driver from Kaulig Racing, added a touch of humor to the discussion, highlighting the importance of actually making it to the championship stage first. Allmendinger praised the idea of rotating Championship Weekend venues and emphasized the excitement of seeing different tracks host the season finale.

As NASCAR gears up for the 2026 season, the anticipation and enthusiasm among drivers for the return to Homestead-Miami Speedway are palpable. The upcoming Championship Weekend promises to deliver thrilling races and unforgettable moments as drivers vie for the coveted title on the iconic track.
