Revolutionary Changes Unveiled for NASCAR All-Star Race

In a groundbreaking announcement, NASCAR and Speedway Motorsports have revealed the innovative format and new procedures for the upcoming 2025 NASCAR All-Star Race, set to take place on May 18 at the iconic North Wilkesboro Speedway for the third consecutive year.

The highly-anticipated event will showcase a revamped format, featuring two heat races to determine the starting lineup for the All-Star Race, a 100-lap All-Star Open, and an extended 250-lap main event. Exciting new elements such as the Manufacturer Showdown, Promoter’s Caution, modifications to Open qualifying, and Pit Crew Challenge eligibility will make this year’s race one for the history books.

A major highlight of this season’s format is the Manufacturer Showdown, where teams representing Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota will compete against each other. The Manufacturer with the lowest combined finishing positions will be crowned the winner, adding a new level of intensity and pride for the OEM partners.

John Probst, Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer, expressed his excitement about the evolution of the NASCAR All-Star Race, emphasizing the commitment to innovation and competitiveness. The return to North Wilkesboro Speedway aims to honor the sport’s heritage while introducing fresh and thrilling competitive elements.

The 250-lap All-Star Race will feature a competition break at or near lap 100, along with an optional Promoter’s Caution before lap 220, injecting an element of unpredictability and strategy into the race. The All-Star Open on Saturday will provide drivers with the opportunity to secure a spot in the main event, with the top two race finishers and the Fan Vote Winner advancing to the All-Star Race.

The action-packed weekend will kick off with All-Star Friday, featuring combined Open and All-Star qualifying, as well as the Pit Crew Challenge. The unique qualifying format will see pit crews of all teams eligible for the challenge, adding an extra layer of competition to the event.

Saturday night will witness two thrilling 60-lap heat races to determine the starting lineup for the All-Star Race, culminating in what promises to be a spectacular main event on Sunday night. A star-studded lineup of drivers, including past race winners and champions, guarantees a fierce competition at the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Be prepared for an adrenaline-fueled weekend full of surprises, intense rivalries, and edge-of-your-seat action at the NASCAR All-Star Race.
