A new chapter was unveiled for global motorsports on February 26, as the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) held its inaugural meeting of 2025, under the discerning leadership of President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. This critical assembly was conducted via video conference, with a key focus on setting the FIA’s strategic course for the upcoming year, building upon the significant milestones achieved in 2024.

At the forefront of this discussion, Ben Sulayem articulated the FIA’s commitment to several critical areas. They include accessibility, regulatory transparency, and the ongoing advancement of motorsport across all tiers. His vision for the FIA in 2025 is to build upon the successes of the previous year, which marked the 120th anniversary of the FIA’s establishment.

In his keynote address, Ben Sulayem said, “In 2024, we celebrated 120 years of FIA achievements. In 2025, we are poised to breathe new life into our championships.” The words resonate with a promise of fresh vigor and a commitment to further elevate the stature of international motorsports.

The FIA plans to ensure its championships remain accessible to enthusiasts and participants alike. This emphasis on accessibility is set to democratize motorsports, making it a more inclusive domain for all.

Additionally, the FIA aims to provide regulatory clarity, a move anticipated to increase transparency and fairness in the sport. It signifies a commitment to a level playing field, where every team has a fair shot at victory based on merit and performance.

The continual development of motorsports at all levels is another pivotal point in the FIA’s 2025 agenda. It underlines the organization’s dedication to fostering grassroots motorsport and nurturing emerging talents, thereby securing the future of the sport.

This first meeting of the WMSC in 2025 marks a significant step in the FIA’s ongoing journey of enhancing motorsport globally. With a clear vision set out by President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the future of motorsport appears brighter and more exciting than ever before. The FIA’s commitment to accessibility, regulatory clarity, and continual development, promises to infuse new life into the championships, making 2025 a year to watch in the world of motorsports.
