Opel has decided to carry out the traditional mid-cycle renewal of the Corsa, and did not miss the opportunity to introduce a new electric version, powered by a 156 hp motor, and capable of offering a range of up to 405 km – maintaining the already known variant, also 100% electric, with 136 hp and 260 Nm of torque with a range of up to 357 km.
Still in terms of engines, the lightning brand now offers, for the first time, its utility vehicle with 48V mild hybrid technology, applied to the 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder engine, combined with a new dual-clutch automatic transmission, and which will be available in two power levels: 100 hp and 136 hp.
The renewal of Opel’s best-seller also involved the exterior style, with the Corsa displaying the famous Opel Vizor “face”, characterized by the closed black grille, LED headlights, and the central Opel Blitz logo all in one element. Depending on the equipment level, the brand logo, at the front and rear, is applied in black or satin matte silver colors; the “aesthetic” air intakes, in the lower area of the front bumper, are larger and more prominent than before; and, at the rear, the Corsa designation now appears in the center.
Inside, the Corsa assumes an image identical to that of other more recent Opel models, such as the Astra, highlighting the new patterns of seat coverings, as well as the new design of the gearshift and steering wheel. At the same time, a fully digital instrument panel was introduced, as well as a new infotainment system with a 10” central screen, based on the integrated Snapdragon Cockpit platform from Qualcomm Technologies, with improved capabilities in terms of graphics, multimedia, computer vision, and artificial intelligence (AI).
All versions of the refreshed Opel Corsa come with a wide range of technologies and driver assistance systems as standard equipment. The list includes front collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection; lane keeping assistance; and drowsiness alert. The additional electronic “helpers” make driving and maneuvering safer and more relaxing. The offer extends to side protection and the new high-resolution panoramic rear-view camera.
As for prices, Opel has already announced that despite all the new features and equipment, prices remain similar to those previously practiced. In this way, the new Corsa Electric is available at an entry price of €34,670 (VAT included). Alternatively, starting from €249 per month, through the FleXiOpel financing product or Opel Drive leasing.
As for the combustion versions, all of them have a 1.2L three-cylinder gasoline engine. The entry-level version with a naturally aspirated 75 hp engine and a five-speed manual gearbox has a starting price of €19,155.
