There is a new record among compact vehicles on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife track in Germany, where brands put their models to the test.
This time it was Audi who took the renewed RS 3 to the German circuit and completed a lap in 7:33.123 minutes, beating the current fastest time in this class by over five seconds.
The new record was achieved by driver Frank Stippler, who used a pre-production unit equipped with the legendary five-cylinder engine with 400 hp and 500 Nm of torque. In combination with the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tires, the 19-inch ceramic brake system, the RS sport suspension with adaptive damper control, and the optimized chassis configuration, the 2.5 TFSI engine allows the RS 3 to be even more powerful in the corners.
“The new RS 3 attacks the curves even more confidently thanks to precise tuning – including brake torque vectoring – that allows the vehicle to be positioned earlier and better for the exit of the curve, at the latest from the apex. The result is a lower steering angle from the apex to the exit of the curve, which leads to less friction and faster acceleration, allowing it to carry more momentum and speed into each subsequent straightaway.”, explained Frank Stippler.
Remember that the production version of the RS 3 will be available for order from the end of August.
