Renault is going all-in on dedicated electric vehicle (EV) platforms, making a bold move that could disrupt the industry and set new standards in the electric revolution! With the CMF-EV and CMF-BEV platforms, Renault aims to create EVs that will be as affordable as combustion-engine vehicles by 2027-2028, delivering unmatched performance, range, and efficiency while redefining what mainstream EVs can offer.

CMF-EV: Premium Performance, Long-Range Mastery

The CMF-EV platform is set to power Renault’s premium electric models, offering a range of up to 580 kilometers (360 miles) on a single charge. Designed for C and D segment vehicles, this platform optimizes driving dynamics, thanks to a low center of gravity, ideal weight distribution, and reduced weight, all supported by multi-link rear suspension for a smooth, responsive ride. By strategically locating major components in the engine bay, Renault has maximized interior space while minimizing weight and production costs.

CMF-BEV: Affordable Electric Power for All

The CMF-BEV platform will be the backbone for Renault’s entry-level EVs, aiming to reduce production costs by 33% compared to previous models like the Zoe. This budget-friendly platform will enable high performance, delivering up to 400 kilometers (249 miles) of range without sacrificing the style, design, and functionality that consumers expect from Renault. With scalability in mind, the CMF-BEV platform supports an interchangeably modular battery design, further driving down costs and increasing efficiency.Electric Dreams: Made in France, Aiming for a Million

With production anchored at Renault’s Ampere division and Renault ElectriCity in northern France, the automaker plans to churn out 400,000 EVs annually by 2025, rising to over a million by 2031. This aggressive scaling will be critical to Renault’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040. Meanwhile, Renault’s “One Box” system—a compact, integrated inverter, DC-DC converter, and onboard charger unit—is set to cut costs further and increase the efficiency of its EV models, thanks to its 800V capabilities and partnership with STMicroelectronics.

Renault’s ambitious EV platforms are a powerful statement in the battle for the future of mobility, with plans to deliver 10 new EV models by 2025 and ramp up sustainable, competitive options for consumers. This move places Renault at the forefront of the EV race, setting a new benchmark for innovation, accessibility, and affordability in the electrified era.
