Renault took advantage of its presence at the Brussels Motor Show, which kicks off this Friday, to unveil the interior of the Rwingo 100% electric prototype, a show car that anticipates the design approach of the future production car, which will be available for sale in 2026.
Continuing a story that began over 30 years ago, the Twingo E-Tech electric prototype is a show car true to the spirit of the first generation, with its spacious and functional layout. The interior revisits the iconic elements of the first generation of the city model, featuring a cylindrical and suspended dashboard, complemented by a 7” digital instrument panel and a 10.1” central multimedia screen.
In addition to providing connectivity, these elements add a creative and dynamic touch to the onboard experience, thanks to their original graphics. Next to the three air conditioning buttons, the red turn signal button stands out visually, evoking memories of the first Twingo.
The fluid layout of the cabin includes easily accessible storage areas, with spaces under the dashboard for bags and everyday items, and a flat area under the cylinder that spans the entire width of the cabin. This surface allows passengers to keep a book, mobile phone, or even sunglasses easily accessible.
Note also the upholstery of the seats in this Twingo E-Tech electric model, which is inspired by the colorful patterns of the first generation model and matches the exterior color of the body, with subtle touches on the front door panels and the dashboard oriented towards the passenger.
Additionally, this show car from Renault features a floor made of dyed cork, a material that is both resistant and durable.
Renault has stated that the interior of the Twingo E-Tech prototype was designed to be attractive, practical, and intelligent in every aspect, creating an experience that all passengers can enjoy. Examples of this include the front headrest with a magnetic area for rear passengers to secure their mobile phones, or an elastic strip that serves as a pocket for maps and keeps a water bottle handy. The seat back adjustment button is inspired by skateboard wheels, alluding to the urban environment of the Twingo.
The rear seat slides and folds in a 50/50 split to maximize legroom and allow for the transport of bulky items or to increase trunk space.
Also noteworthy is the generous rounded glass roof, which floods the interior of the Twingo E-Tech electric prototype with light.
Designed on the small AmpR platform, anticipating the future production car that will hit the market next year, the Twingo E-Tech electric was presented for the first time at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. The curved lines and modern details emphasize its youthful character. The embossed LED headlights give it an expressive and cheerful look, while the Twingo signature in the center of the trunk door reinvents the spirit of the Twingo for a new urban era without compromises.
Developed by Ampere in just two years, with the aim of achieving an entry price of under €20,000 for a model produced in Europe, the electric Twingo confirms Renault’s ambition to make electric mobility more accessible.
