Renault Niagara Concept: pick-up do futuro com nova plataforma modular

Renault announced the launch of a new modular platform, extremely flexible and adapted to different sources of energy, to equip its future models worldwide, particularly in Latin America, Turkey, Morocco, and India.

The project, which will require an investment of three billion euros, is part of the “International Game Plus 2027” plan, in line with the “Renaulution” strategy, whose goal is that by 2027, one in three vehicles of the brand sold outside of Europe will be hybrid or electric.

The first of these is anticipated by the Niagara Concept, a prototype of a pickup equipped with the new E-Tech hybrid 4WD powertrain technology, based on a new platform with state-of-the-art electrical and electronic architecture, compatible with all current and future regulations.

This new modular platform allows for great diversity in terms of length (between 4-5m), wheelbase (four options, between 2.6-3m), rear section (three lengths); and energy sources and new powertrains, aiming for greater efficiency in terms of consumption and CO2 emissions: internal combustion engines, Flex Fuel engines (E85), LPG engines, advanced Mild Hybrid powertrains (48V), and Full Hybrid powertrains – all capable of combining with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The design of the Niagara Concept is characterized by a robust image, highlighted by the raised hood, pronounced wheel arches, and imposing grille. Furthermore, at the front, instead of the traditional diamond, the Renault name is written in full; while at the rear, slim taillights are present, connected by an illuminated bar to the center, where the brand logo of Billancourt is located.

It is also worth noting the camouflage of the now-revealed prototype, inspired by the lines and patterns of the mentioned diamond, which, according to Renault, emphasizes the multiple facets of the car: green points to adventure, yellow to its character, light gray to technicality, and black background to power.

“The Niagara embodies the style of Renault’s future international range. Robust and powerful, with exuberant and large dimensions, this exploratory concept is also sophisticated and full of technologies. It is the promise of a limitless journey,” emphasized Bruno Vanel, Vice President of Renault Brand for Product Performance.
