The Renault Master has received the “Van of the Year” award granted by the jury of the International Van Of The Year (IVOTY) 2025, at a ceremony held during the IAA Transportation in Hannover, Germany.
Unanimously elected by a panel of experts representing 25 European countries, the Master was recognized for its completely new design and the high levels of innovation and technology developed for the new range.
The New Renault Master is the fifth van from the brand to win this prestigious title, following the Renault Master II (IVOTY 1998), the Renault Trafic II (IVOTY 2002), the Kangoo Z.E (IVOTY 2012), and the Kangoo Van III (IVOTY 2022).
It is worth noting that the new generation of the Renault Master features a more muscular and modern design, highlighted by the front section with a new grille, the new Renault logo, and large full-LED headlights with a C-shaped signature around the grille.
The Aerovan design of the bodywork allowed Renault engineers to enhance the aerodynamics of the Master, thereby reducing the drag coefficient by 20%, which translates into significant savings in fuel consumption, with the brand promising a substantial reduction in fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
Inside the cabin, the highlight is the S-shaped dashboard, oriented towards the driver. Standard is the new 10’’ digital instrument panel, aligned with the OpenR multimedia system featuring integrated Google on a similarly sized 10’’ screen, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly.
Also noteworthy is the steering wheel, which can be adjusted for height and depth, along with numerous storage spaces that provide 135 liters of usable space, which is 25% more than the previous generation.
The new Renault Master comes with a range consisting of 20 types of bodies from 11 to 22 cubic meters, featuring a side sliding door that is 40 mm wider and cargo areas that are 100 mm longer. The shorter wheelbase and redesigned front axle contribute to a turning diameter that is 1.5 meters shorter.
In terms of engine options, the offering is extensive, starting with the Blue dCi Diesel, available in power levels of 105, 130, 150, or 170 hp. It can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or the new nine-speed automatic transmission.
The fully electric versions feature motors of 130 hp or 114 hp, both with a maximum torque of 300 Nm. The first version uses a 40 kWh battery and has a WLTP range of up to 200 km, while the second uses an 87 kWh battery and offers a range of up to 460 km.
The 130 kW DC fast charging allows for recovering 230 km of range in just 30 minutes. At home, with a 22 kW AC wallbox, the battery can be charged from 10% to 100% in four hours. These versions also offer the capability to supply power back to the grid using V2G technology, as well as to power tools and electronic devices (V2L).
