Renault Twingo regressa em 2026 em modo 100% elétrico

Renault has confirmed that it is negotiating with VW for a partnership aimed at producing a small 100% electric car for the European market.

The confirmation was made by Renault CEO Luca de Meo at the Geneva Motor Show, who also mentioned that they are talking to other potential partners without identifying them. “I am open to anyone who wants to join. I have production capacity. I have the platform. I know how to do it,” said Luca de Meo.

This stance by the Renault CEO comes at a time when European car manufacturers are trying to find a solution to offer electric vehicles at low prices, in order not to lose the electric mobility race to Chinese manufacturers.

Remember that Renault announced at the end of 2023 that it will launch the new generation of the Twingo in 2026, which will be 100% electric, with a price that promises to be below €20,000.

According to “Automotive News Europe”, last Monday Luca de Meo confirmed in Geneva that Renault and VW are in “initial negotiations” to share the Twingo platform, a shortened version of the AmpR Small architecture that supports the new Renault 5 electric.

To reduce costs, Luca de Meo mentioned that the Twingo may use cheaper lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.
