The Renault Group announced, this Monday, that the facilities in Sandouville, France, will build the new generation of light commercial electric vehicles for Flexis SAS, the joint venture formed by Renault, Volvo, and CMA CGM, a French maritime transport company.
The new light commercial vehicles will be based on a Software Defined Vehicle Platform (SDV) with an 800 V electrical architecture and will be equipped with route and fleet management systems.
“A new era is beginning in Sandouville, with the production of the next generation of light commercial electric vehicles that will transform the future of logistics through their revolutionary design. It is a source of pride for us and also a challenge that we accept for a historic site, whose goal is to continue to be a reference in the sector,” emphasized Thierry Charvet, director of industry and quality at the Renault Group.
To support this new activity and help the factory start the new project, the company announced a recruitment plan that foresees 550 new hires over the next four years, in addition to the approximately 1850 current workers at the Sandouville production unit.
The new generation of 100% electric light commercial vehicles will be revealed at a later date.
