Red Bull’s Shocking Decision: Who Will Join Verstappen for 2026?

In a dramatic twist that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport world, Red Bull Racing is poised to reveal who will partner with Max Verstappen for the 2026 Formula 1 season. The reigning champion is the only driver confirmed to remain with the team, leaving fans and analysts alike on the edge of their seats as speculation intensifies over his future teammate.

The anticipation surrounding this decision has been palpable, especially with the team’s junior outfit, Racing Bulls, still undecided on their driver lineup. Initially, it was anticipated that an announcement would follow the Mexican Grand Prix, but with Verstappen firmly in the title race, Red Bull’s management has opted to delay any discussions that could distract from his championship aspirations. However, insiders suggest that a decision has already been made behind closed doors.

Sky F1 pundit Karun Chandhok dropped a bombshell during the broadcast after the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying, hinting that Isack Hadjar is likely to step up to the big leagues. “It looks like [Arvid] Lindblad is coming in,” Chandhok stated confidently, indicating that Red Bull has already solidified their plans. He continued, “They seem to have made that decision. Now I will probably keep Liam [Lawson], because I think they need some stability in that team.”

If Chandhok’s predictions are accurate, the highly-touted F2 driver Lindblad could finally see his dreams of racing in F1 realized, while Hadjar, after just one year in the sport, would find himself in the high-pressure environment of Red Bull. This potential shake-up spells disaster for current driver Yuki Tsunoda, who faces an uncertain future. With no alternative full-time seats available, the Japanese driver may find himself ousted from the sport entirely come 2026.

Chandhok also highlighted Tsunoda’s declining confidence, noting the impending end of the Honda partnership. “Yuki’s confidence must be down after this year,” he remarked. “So they don’t really owe Honda anything. It doesn’t give you a Japanese driver.” As the clock ticks down to the end of the season, the F1 community waits with bated breath for an official announcement, which team principals Laurent Mekies and Alan Permane have indicated may not come until after the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

As the Red Bull saga unfolds, fans and competitors alike are left wondering: will this be a bold new era for the team, or will it mark the end of an era for Tsunoda? The stakes have never been higher, and the drama surrounding Red Bull’s driver decisions is sure to captivate audiences worldwide. Tune in as the 2026 season approaches—this is a story you won’t want to miss!
