Red Bull’s Controversial Move: Attempt to Sabotage Lando Norris’ Grid Marker Sparks Outrage at US Grand Prix!

In a gripping turn of events surrounding the 2025 United States Grand Prix, accusations have emerged that Red Bull Racing resorted to underhanded tactics in a bid to undermine McLaren’s Lando Norris. Despite Max Verstappen’s impressive victory, the post-race discussions center around a shocking allegation: a Red Bull crew member attempted to tamper with Norris’ crucial grid marker just as the formation lap commenced!

The drama unfolded on the hallowed grounds of the Circuit of the Americas, where a seemingly innocuous piece of duct tape—serving as a reference point for Norris—was the center of a high-stakes game of psychological warfare. This tape, strategically placed on the pitwall beside Norris’ grid slot, is a vital tool for drivers, ensuring they align their cars perfectly and avoid the dreaded false start. However, during the formation lap, a Red Bull team member brazenly attempted to re-enter the grid area, aiming to remove this essential marker.

Caught on circuit CCTV, the incident was a slap in the face to the spirit of fair play, raising immediate concerns about safety and sportsmanship. The FIA swiftly intervened, handing Red Bull a €50,000 fine—half of which was suspended—after the crew member blatantly ignored the instructions of race officials. The stewards condemned the action, labeling it an “unsafe act” that jeopardized the safety measures in place for the race.

“A team member re-entered the gate well area at Gate 1 in proximity of the second grid position after the formation lap had commenced,” the stewards’ report stated. “Any person affiliated with a team should understand that entering the track or hindering safety measures during this critical phase is absolutely prohibited.”

While the fine was officially attributed to the failure to adhere to race instructions, insiders insist the underlying motive was an attempt to sabotage McLaren’s pre-race setup. This revelation has reignited fierce debates about the lengths to which teams will go in the cutthroat world of Formula 1.

In a statement following the race, Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies attempted to downplay the incident. “We fully respect the stewards,” he asserted, dismissing the event as a minor misunderstanding. Mekies claimed their personnel were following marshal directives, yet the fine speaks volumes about the seriousness of the breach.

This shocking attempt at gamesmanship isn’t an isolated incident; sources indicate that Red Bull has previously taken issues with McLaren’s visual cues. As the championship battle heats up between Verstappen and McLaren’s Norris and Oscar Piastri, every psychological edge is fiercely contested, making this incident particularly emblematic of the extreme pressures faced by teams.

The FIA stewards concluded that while no malicious intent could be proven, Red Bull’s reckless behavior risked delaying the grid clearance process and constituted a serious violation of safety protocols. With half of the fine suspended for the remainder of the season, Red Bull now faces scrutiny over whether it can keep its actions in check amidst the intense championship race.

As this saga unfolds, McLaren’s duct tape has become a symbol of the razor-thin margins and ethical dilemmas permeating modern Formula 1 racing. The question lingers: how far is too far when it comes to clever tactics? One thing is certain—this latest controversy has set the stage for an explosive finale to the season, with fans and teams alike eagerly watching to see what unfolds next!
