Cadillac’s Formula 1 Team Eyes Former Red Bull Driver for 2026 Season

As Cadillac gears up for its highly-anticipated entry into Formula 1 in the 2026 season, all eyes are on the team’s driver lineup. While details about the team have been slowly unveiled, one crucial aspect remains shrouded in mystery: the drivers who will represent the American outfit on the grid.

Among the names being floated as potential candidates is former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez. With Cadillac’s official confirmation to join the F1 grid, speculations have been rife about who will secure the coveted seats at the team.

Cadillac is reportedly seeking to enlist at least one driver with Formula 1 experience to spearhead its debut season. Additionally, there is a glimmer of hope for an American driver to join the ranks, although the scarcity of super license points poses a significant challenge.

In an interview with the Spanish edition of ESPN, Cadillac advisor and 1978 World Champion Mario Andretti teased about the team’s driver choices. While he remained tight-lipped about the specifics, Andretti hinted at three realistic candidates, including Sergio Perez.

“And no, I won’t reveal which ones,” Andretti coyly remarked when pressed about the potential drivers. However, he did acknowledge Perez’s presence on the list, stating, “He’s an option. That could be an option, of course.”

Perez, known for his strategic prowess and experience in Formula 1, has expressed a cautious approach towards selecting his next move, emphasizing the importance of considering his family’s well-being alongside his career aspirations. With a wealth of experience driving for various teams in F1, Perez could offer invaluable insights crucial for a new team like Cadillac.

As the speculation continues to mount, the question remains: Will Cadillac extend an offer to Perez, and will the Mexican driver consider joining the American outfit? While the answers are yet to unfold, the allure of Perez’s potential addition to Cadillac’s roster adds an intriguing layer of anticipation to the upcoming F1 season.
