The Red Bull driver program has once again delivered a shocker as French-Algerian prodigy Isack Hadjar reportedly outpaced Yuki Tsunoda during a private team test ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season. This revelation, made by Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, has set the F1 paddock abuzz and thrown a spotlight on the incredible potential of the 20-year-old rookie.

“The Test That Turned Heads”

As Red Bull prepares for major roster changes in 2025—with Daniel Ricciardo returning to the main team alongside Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson stepping up from VCARB—Isack Hadjar is ready to make his F1 debut for Red Bull’s sister team. Amid these transitions, Red Bull conducted private tests to assess its drivers, and the results were astonishing.

Horner didn’t hold back in praising Hadjar’s performance during these sessions: “Isack, he’s another talent—he jumped in the car, and he was faster than Yuki in the test last week, which turned heads,” the Red Bull boss revealed. For a rookie to eclipse an experienced F1 driver like Tsunoda in testing is no small feat, and it’s a testament to Hadjar’s raw ability.

“Tsunoda’s Task: Mentoring While Competing”

Yuki Tsunoda, who was once in the running for a promotion to Red Bull’s primary team, now faces a dual challenge. Not only will he need to deliver results in 2025, but he will also shoulder the responsibility of mentoring the ambitious and quick Hadjar. Tsunoda, who narrowly missed his chance to move up due to the rise of Liam Lawson, now finds himself in a high-pressure situation to assert his experience and keep pace with his new teammate.

“Hadjar’s Rise: A Raw Talent with Serious Potential”

Hadjar comes into F1 as the 2024 Formula 2 runner-up, having narrowly missed the championship due to technical glitches in the final race. Despite the setback, his raw speed and racing intelligence have impressed the Red Bull hierarchy. “He’s definitely a raw talent—he needs a little bit of polishing, but he has the speed,” Horner said.

Horner also highlighted Hadjar’s ability to adapt quickly, predicting that the young driver’s debut season will be one to watch. “It will be interesting to see how things pan out,” he added, signaling high expectations for the French-Algerian rookie.

“A Competitive Lineup for 2025”

With multiple rookies, including Hadjar, entering the 2025 grid, the dynamics of the upcoming F1 season are shaping up to be electrifying. Red Bull’s junior team will be under intense scrutiny as it fields a lineup featuring Tsunoda and Hadjar, both eager to prove themselves in what promises to be a fiercely competitive season.

As for Hadjar, his blistering pace in testing and his impressive track record in junior categories position him as one of the most exciting talents to watch. Whether he can carry that momentum into the high-pressure environment of Formula 1 remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Red Bull’s conveyor belt of talent continues to deliver.
