Red Bull’s Rising Star: Arvid Lindblad Targeted for F1 Seat in 2026

At just 17 years old, Arvid Lindblad is rapidly climbing the motorsport ladder, with Red Bull setting its sights on the young driver making his Formula 1 debut for their newly rebranded Racing Bulls team in 2026. Following stellar performances in Italian F4 and FIA Formula 3, Lindblad is set to compete in FIA Formula 2 next year, positioning himself as a key talent in Red Bull’s junior driver program.

“The Road to Formula 1”

Lindblad’s rapid ascent has caught the attention of Red Bull’s top brass, including Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. As part of his development, Lindblad will follow a specialized program designed to secure him an FIA Super License, an F2 championship campaign in 2025, and extensive Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) to prepare him for F1.

“We are doing a special programme for him, sending him to New Zealand in this [Formula Regional] championship, and the goal is to win it so he gets the necessary points for a Super License,” Marko revealed on the Inside Line F1 podcast.

Marko emphasized the importance of rigorous preparation, drawing comparisons to the testing programs that prepared Oscar Piastri, Jack Doohan, and Oliver Bearman for their F1 debuts.

“We want him to win or to be one of the top players in the [F2] championship,” Marko said. “If he makes a very good season in Formula 2, he can go with good experience into F1 in 2026, maybe.”

“Pressure on Yuki Tsunoda and the Red Bull Lineup”

Lindblad’s potential promotion could coincide with significant changes in Red Bull’s driver lineup. Yuki Tsunoda, who has been part of the Red Bull setup since 2021, faces uncertainty regarding his future as Liam Lawson takes the spotlight at Racing Bulls in 2025. Horner hinted that Tsunoda’s time might be running out:

“We’re acutely aware that if we’re not able to provide an opportunity for Yuki—being, in all honesty, this year [2025]—does it make sense [to keep him]?”

If Tsunoda exits the program, Lindblad could find himself in prime contention for a Racing Bulls seat, with Isack Hadjar also in the mix.

“The Talent of Tomorrow”

Lindblad’s rise has been marked by standout performances that have impressed Red Bull’s leadership. Horner, in particular, has praised Lindblad’s skill, determination, and maturity behind the wheel.

“Arvid is definitely a talent for the future,” Horner said. “He’s got the right attitude, the right approach, and determination. What we’ve seen in some of his racing, Silverstone in particular this year, you know, he’s a very talented driver.”

“A Strategic Move for 2026”

Red Bull’s strategic investment in Lindblad underscores its commitment to nurturing young talent and ensuring they are race-ready for F1. With an eye on the 2026 grid, the program’s goal is clear: provide Lindblad with the experience, resources, and confidence to thrive at the sport’s highest level.

“If he makes a very good season in Formula 2, he can go into F1 in 2026, maybe,” Marko said.

As Lindblad gears up for his rookie Formula 2 campaign, the motorsport world will watch closely to see if the young driver can rise to the challenge and join the ranks of Formula 1 stars nurtured by Red Bull.
