Red Bull’s Next F1 Prodigy? Arvid Lindblad Takes a Major Step Toward the Big Leagues

At just 17 years old, Arvid Lindblad is quickly becoming one of the most exciting young drivers in motorsport. The Red Bull junior has officially clinched the Formula Regional Oceania title, marking a crucial step toward his ultimate goal: Formula 1.

With his latest championship victory, Lindblad now has enough FIA Super Licence points to be eligible for an F1 seat—though, due to his age, he’ll need special dispensation from the FIA to hit the grid before turning 18 on August 18, 2025.

Could he be the next Red Bull sensation to break into Formula 1 in 2026? If Helmut Marko and Christian Horner have anything to say about it, the answer is a resounding yes.

Dominating the Ladder: Lindblad’s Meteoric Rise

📅 2023: Lindblad proved his worth across F4 UAE, Italy, and Europe, securing 15 Super Licence points with multiple podiums and consistent finishes.
📅 2024: He made his FIA Formula 3 debut, immediately fighting for wins and securing a top-four finish in the championship, adding another 15 points to his name.
📅 2025: Lindblad is set for his Formula 2 debut with Campos Racing, where he’ll battle for the championship in the final step before F1.

Red Bull didn’t want to waste time, so they sent Lindblad to Formula Regional Oceania during the off-season, a series that offers 18 Super Licence points to its champion.

And he delivered in dominant fashion.

✅ Now has over 40 Super Licence points—making him eligible for F1

While he still needs an FIA exemption due to his age, the precedent has already been set with Mercedes junior Andrea Kimi Antonelli. If Red Bull wants him on the 2026 F1 grid, it’s entirely possible.

Red Bull’s Master Plan: Fast-Tracking Lindblad to F1

🔴 Christian Horner:

“Definitely a talent for the future. I think that he’s got the right attitude, the right approach, and determination.”

🔴 Helmut Marko:

“We want him to win or to be one of the top players in the [F2] championship.”

Unlike Liam Lawson or Isack Hadjar, Red Bull is ensuring that Lindblad gets extensive F1 testing. Marko revealed that Lindblad will participate in a dedicated Testing of Previous Car (TPC) program, similar to how Oscar Piastri and Oliver Bearman were groomed for F1.

“We will change that for Arvid. If he has a very good season in Formula 2, he will go into F1 with good experience—maybe in 2026.”

With Lawson already in F1 and Hadjar and Tsunoda battling for future Red Bull seats, Lindblad could be the next breakout star to shake up the pecking order.

Could Lindblad Be on the 2026 Grid? Here’s How It Could Happen

With Sergio Perez’s Red Bull contract expiring at the end of 2025, and Racing Bulls likely needing a fresh talent pipeline, Lindblad has a real chance to land an F1 seat within two years.

Scenario 1: Dominates F2 → Racing Bulls seat in 2026
If Lindblad wins the Formula 2 title, Red Bull could immediately place him at Racing Bulls—following the same path as Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda, and Liam Lawson.

Scenario 2: F2 runner-up → Reserve driver with F1 outings
Even if he doesn’t win F2, Red Bull could hold onto him as a reserve, give him FP1 sessions, and groom him for a 2027 debut.

One thing is clear: Red Bull is investing in Lindblad as their next big talent—and he’s rising through the ranks at lightning speed.

Final Take: A Future Red Bull Star in the Making?

With his Formula Regional Oceania title secured, Arvid Lindblad has proven that he’s not just fast, but dominant.

Now, the real test begins in Formula 2—where he’ll battle to prove he’s worthy of a Formula 1 seat.

If he delivers? Expect to see Lindblad on the F1 grid in 2026.

Red Bull has found its next star—now it’s just a matter of when.
