Racing Bulls Team Boss Declares Success in Losing Drivers to Red Bull

In a shocking turn of events within the Formula 1 world, Racing Bulls team boss, Laurent Mekies, has made a bold statement declaring that losing drivers to Red Bull has been a success for the team. Despite facing conflicting goals with fluctuating driver line-ups, Mekies stands firm in his belief that the squad is on the path to achieving its ambitious targets in the fiercely competitive upper midfield of F1.

The team has encountered challenges due to strategic decisions that have cost them valuable points in the early races of 2025. However, Racing Bulls has managed to develop a car capable of contending for points, engaging in intense battles with formidable opponents like Williams, Haas, Alpine, and Aston Martin.

One of the major hurdles faced by Racing Bulls has been the merry-go-round of Red Bull drivers. The team saw Liam Lawson depart at the beginning of the season, only to be replaced by Yuki Tsunoda after just two races. Despite the setbacks, Mekies views the promotion of Lawson and Tsunoda to Red Bull as a significant achievement for the team.

Speaking on the James Allen on F1 podcast, Mekies acknowledged the challenges of balancing driver development for Red Bull with the team’s performance objectives. He emphasized the importance of competitiveness while nurturing talent for the wider Red Bull family.

Regarding Tsunoda’s departure, Lawson made a comeback to the squad for the third time, facing stiff competition from the impressive F2 runner-up Isack Hadjar, who quickly adapted to the demands of F1. While Lawson showed promise by outqualifying Hadjar in Saudi Arabia, he still needs to work on maintaining pace over race distances.

Mekies expressed confidence in Lawson’s abilities, highlighting his continuous improvement and dedication to enhancing his performance. The team is optimistic about Lawson’s progress and believes he will soon showcase the speed and skill demonstrated in the previous season.

As Racing Bulls navigate through the challenges of the F1 season, the team’s resilience and commitment to success remain unwavering. Despite the hurdles and transitions, Racing Bulls continue to strive for excellence on the track, setting their sights on achieving remarkable feats in the world of Formula 1.
