Jos Verstappen, the father of the talented F1 driver Max Verstappen, has raised eyebrows with his recent comments about Red Bull’s future engine plans. In a bold statement, Jos Verstappen expressed skepticism about Red Bull’s entry into the 2026 season as an engine manufacturer, questioning the team’s motives and honesty towards Max Verstappen.

The former F1 driver highlighted the importance of Red Bull being transparent with Max Verstappen regarding the team’s ability to provide a competitive car. He emphasized that it would make no sense for Red Bull to deceive Max about their engine plans, as it could impact his decision to stay with the team.

Jos Verstappen’s remarks come at a crucial time for Red Bull as they strive to improve the performance of their RB20 and RB21 cars. With Max Verstappen currently trailing behind Oscar Piastri by 25 points, the pressure is on for Red Bull to deliver a car capable of challenging for race wins.

The upcoming technical directive on flexible wings in Barcelona adds another layer of complexity to Red Bull’s season. The team is hopeful that the new regulations will hinder their competitors, particularly McLaren, and provide them with a competitive edge.

While Max Verstappen has expressed loyalty to Red Bull, his father’s comments cast doubt on the team’s future prospects. Jos Verstappen’s concerns about Red Bull’s transition to an engine supplier in 2026 raise valid questions about the team’s long-term strategy and their commitment to providing Max with a winning car.

As the F1 season unfolds, all eyes will be on Red Bull to see how they address these challenges and whether they can fulfill their promise to Max Verstappen. The Verstappen saga continues to captivate F1 fans worldwide, adding an extra layer of drama to an already intense championship battle.
