Formula 1 Red Bull team suspends employee who filed complaint against Christian Horner, which was dismissed after investigation. Last month, Red Bull’s parent company ordered an external lawyer to conduct an investigation after being informed of allegations made by a Red Bull Racing employee. Ahead of the 2024 season opener in Bahrain, Red Bull GmbH announced that the complaint had been dismissed. The complainant has the right to appeal, and reports stating that the deadline for an appeal had expired were inaccurate. Legal letters must be issued before any further action can be taken by both parties. This occurred earlier this week, leading to the suspension and allowing the complainant to seek an appeal. Red Bull chose to keep the details of the investigation confidential to protect those who assisted. Horner made minimal comments on the process or outcome so far. The accuser continued working with the team, but it was revealed at the start of the second round of the F1 in Saudi Arabia that she had been suspended with full pay. It is believed that this action is related to the findings of the investigation. Horner, on the other hand, was not suspended by Red Bull during the investigation and remained in his position as team principal and CEO. The result of the investigation secured his position, although the team faced intensified scrutiny due to the leak of alleged evidence 24 hours after Red Bull announced the dismissal of the complaint. The authenticity of the messages in the dossier sent to senior F1 members and the media was not verified, and neither Horner nor Red Bull confirmed their veracity. The lack of transparency from Red Bull’s parent company throughout the process has led to rampant speculation since the matter became public over a month ago. F1 and the FIA got involved, meeting separately with Horner and closely monitoring the situation, concerned that it could be detrimental to the championship. However, no action was taken by either organization. After the Bahrain Grand Prix last week, Jos Verstappen, Max Verstappen’s father, essentially called for Horner’s departure. He expressed concerns that Red Bull could disintegrate under Horner’s leadership and that the tension caused by this situation could lead the team to “explode.” Horner is scheduled to speak on Thursday during the FIA press conference between the two F1 practice sessions in Jeddah.
