Red Bull Young Talent Leaves Contract Fate in Mother’s Hands
A rising star in the Formula 1 scene, Red Bull’s young driver Isack Hadjar, has shed light on an unconventional approach to determining his future with the team. The rookie driver has shown promise with the Red Bull junior team Racing Bulls, impressively securing points in four out of his eight races so far. As the French-Algerian’s contract nears its end this season, the stakes are high, and the motivation is strong to continue his impressive performance on the track.
Despite being seen as a potential contender for a spot with Red Bull in the upcoming seasons, the 20-year-old sensation has confessed that he is content to delegate all contract negotiations to his manager. Interestingly enough, his manager just happens to be his mother. In a recent media interaction at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Hadjar revealed his hands-off approach, stating, “I haven’t thought about it at all, so we’ll see when the time comes. But at the moment, no clue. I leave this to my mum, and we’ll see.”
Currently occupying the 10th spot in the drivers’ standings in his debut season, Hadjar has amassed 15 points so far. He stepped in for Liam Lawson in 2025 after the latter was moved up to the Red Bull team. However, the dynamics shifted quickly as both young drivers found themselves competing alongside each other following Lawson’s abrupt departure after just two races.
Heading into the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix following his standout performance in Monaco, where he clinched a commendable sixth place, Hadjar is riding a wave of momentum. Despite facing challenges during the Monaco race weekend, including brushes with barriers during practice sessions, the 2024 F2 runner-up managed to deliver an impressive race performance. The young driver also made headlines for his candid and unfiltered interview with Sky Sports, where he expressed his frustrations.
As the Spanish Grand Prix approaches, fans are eager to see if Hadjar can maintain his upward trajectory and solidify his position as a promising talent in the world of Formula 1. The unique dynamic of entrusting contract matters to his mother only adds to the intrigue surrounding this young driver’s journey in the high-octane world of motorsport.
