With less than a month to go before the 2025 NASCAR season kicks off, excitement is hitting fever pitch. One of the biggest storylines to watch is Trackhouse Racing’s international star-studded lineup, featuring Shane van Gisbergen (SVG), Ross Chastain, and Daniel Suarez.

SVG, the New Zealand native and three-time Supercar champion, isn’t your average rookie. He’s already left his mark in NASCAR by pulling off one of the most stunning debuts ever—a victory in the 2023 Chicago Street Race. Now, armed with a proven track record and a newfound partnership with Red Bull, SVG could be the key to Trackhouse Racing’s first championship.

Red Bull’s Long-Awaited NASCAR Comeback

After a 14-year hiatus, Red Bull Racing is back in NASCAR. Their original Cup Series stint from 2006 to 2011 saw only flashes of brilliance, with two victories—Brian Vickers in 2009 and Kasey Kahne in 2011—before they exited the scene. Now, the energy drink juggernaut has returned, this time as a sponsor for SVG’s #88 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet in five key races: Las Vegas, Sonoma, Iowa, Daytona, and Kansas.

This partnership isn’t just nostalgic—it’s strategic. Red Bull has been a constant in van Gisbergen’s Supercar career since 2016, supporting him through three championship wins and cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s greats.

SVG himself shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter):
“Super excited to be racing with wiiings again on my car, now with Red Bull Motors in NASCAR! They have been great supporters of me back home, so awesome to have them on board with Team Trackhouse.”

Trackhouse Racing’s Championship Aspirations

Trackhouse Racing is positioning itself as a powerhouse for the 2025 season, combining proven veterans Chastain and Suarez with a rookie who’s anything but ordinary. SVG’s raw talent and adaptability could be a game-changer, especially with Red Bull in his corner.

SVG’s Stats Speak Volumes

  • Supercar Championships: 3 (2016, 2021, 2022)
  • Supercar Wins: 78
  • NASCAR Cup Debut: 2023 Chicago Street Race (Win)
  • Xfinity 2024: 3 wins, P12 in the championship standings

Fan Expectations and Championship Potential

SVG’s stellar résumé and his seamless adaptation to NASCAR’s diverse tracks—paired with Red Bull’s backing—have fans dreaming of Trackhouse’s first championship. The five Red Bull-sponsored races, including technical road courses like Sonoma and high-stakes events like Daytona, could be pivotal in SVG’s campaign.

Key Questions Heading into the Season:

  • Can SVG’s road course expertise translate to ovals? His Supercar background gives him an edge on twisty tracks, but ovals present a unique challenge.
  • Will Red Bull’s sponsorship elevate the team’s performance? Red Bull’s proven success in motorsport could inspire SVG and the entire Trackhouse lineup.
  • Can Trackhouse dethrone dominant teams like Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing?

Red Bull and NASCAR: A Reignited Legacy

Red Bull’s return to NASCAR is more than just a sponsorship—it’s a statement. Pairing their brand with SVG, one of the most successful Red Bull athletes in motorsport, makes their comeback feel like a homecoming. With Connor Zilisch also set to debut in a Red Bull-backed entry, the energy drink giant is doubling down on the future of the sport.

Final Thoughts
Shane van Gisbergen’s unique combination of experience, talent, and a championship pedigree—now backed by Red Bull’s iconic brand—makes him a driver to watch in 2025. With his fiery determination and the unwavering support of Trackhouse Racing, SVG isn’t just aiming to compete; he’s looking to conquer.

Can SVG and Red Bull rewrite NASCAR history? All eyes will be on the #88 Trackhouse Chevy when the green flag drops at the Daytona 500.
