Red Bull responds to Mercedes after surprising victory in Austria.

Red Bull responde à Mercedes após vitória surpreendente na Áustria.

George Russell secured victory for Mercedes in the 71-lap race in Spielberg. The Mercedes Formula 1 team has been making impressive progress since the Monaco GP. They have been accumulating solid points, but no one expected them to come out victorious in the recent Austrian GP.

The Red Bull driver was on his way to victory in Spielberg, but a collision with the McLaren driver changed the course for the team. Mercedes took advantage of the situation and secured a surprising and remarkable win.

However, the Austrian team is not impressed with their rival’s success and made a critical comment. Mercedes earned valuable points at the Red Bull Ring thanks to George Russell’s first place and their driver’s fourth place. Despite this, Marko and his team believe that the German team is incapable of winning races on their own. The W15 car has made significant improvements, but the 81-year-old veteran is correct in his assessment. If Verstappen hadn’t collided with Norris, Russell probably would have finished in third or fourth place.

While Marko downplays Mercedes’ triumph in Austria, Wolff and his team remain calm. They are focused only on themselves and are highly optimistic about the rest of the 2024 season.

Mercedes has surpassed Ferrari in terms of pace in the recent races. Currently, they occupy fourth place in the constructors’ championship with 196 points and are closing in on the leading teams. McLaren currently has 268 points, with Ferrari not far ahead with 291. Considering this, the German team has the potential to significantly reduce this gap. However, they will need both their drivers to perform at their best in the upcoming races.
