In recent weeks, Christian Horner has been at the center of controversy. Investigated for alleged ‘inappropriate behavior’, he has already had meetings with Red Bull regarding the matter and may even be leaving the team principal position he has held since 2005.
According to Mervi Kallio, a journalist from Viaplay, the Austrians have already decided to let go of Horner – citing multiple sources. The British man is present at the Bahrain tests this week, as an agreement for his departure has not yet been reached.
The official announcement is expected to come soon, even before the start of the season. As for the succession, the website Motorsport.com speculates various names – such as former Alpine leaders, Otmar Szafnauer, and former Ferrari leader, Mattia Binotto, but also current members of Red Bull like Jonathan Wheatley and former driver David Coulthard. Oliver Oakes, team principal of Hitech Pulse-Eight in Formula 2 and Formula 3, is another name mentioned.
