However, it seems like Head Coach John Harbaugh was prepared for this situation. In no time, he found a perfect replacement in Zach Orr, a former linebacker and current ILB coach for the Ravens.
According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, the Ravens have officially promoted Orr to be their new defensive coordinator. This is a significant promotion for Orr, who retired early from playing due to a neck injury. At just 31 years old, Orr has quickly risen through the ranks within the organization. He was also a top candidate for the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator position, but they ultimately chose Jeff Hafley instead.
Orr’s career may have been cut short, but he has already made a name for himself. In 2016, he was recognized as a second-team All-Pro. After his playing days, Orr joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as their outside linebackers coach in 2021 before returning to the Ravens. Now, he will have the opportunity to build upon the success of the Ravens’ defense, which was widely regarded as one of the best in the league last season.
