RAM Discontinues Its Most Affordable Pickup Truck!

In a stunning announcement, Ram has revealed that the last Ram 1500 Classic will be produced in 2025. This means that the 2024 model year will be the final chance for customers to get their hands on this iconic truck. Since its debut in 2009, the Ram 1500 Classic has held its own in the market, but with competitors constantly updating their offerings, it’s time for the Classic to step aside.

One of the factors contributing to the retirement of the Ram 1500 Classic is the presence of the Tradesman entry-level trim in the Ram 1500 Range. With a starting price of $40,275, the Classic’s own Tradesman trim no longer makes sense. The Classic starts at $38,705, which could potentially eat into the market share of the 1500. It’s a tough decision, but one that had to be made.

For the past five years, the DS and DT generations of the Ram 1500 have coexisted. This was mainly due to the demand for the older generation. However, with the 2024 model year, the retirement of the DS was inevitable. In fact, production of the 1500 Classic for Canada has already been halted. It’s time to bid farewell to the previous generation and look forward to what the future holds.

Despite the retirement announcement, customers can still order the Ram 1500 Classic for now. With a starting price of $38,705 (excluding the $1,955 destination charge), it’s still an attractive option. The Tradesman grade with a Quad Cab and 6’4″ box and front-wheel drive is a popular choice among buyers.

When it comes to customization, Ram offers a range of paintwork options. While Bright White and Flame Red are available for free, customers can also choose from bold colors like Detonator Yellow, Omaha Orange, or Hills Green for an additional $500. The configurator allows buyers to select from five wheel designs, four tire options, and two types of tonneau covers. Interior options include heavy-duty vinyl or cloth upholstery, with the choice of a standard 5-inch or an 8.4-inch touchscreen display.

Another variant of the Ram 1500 Classic is the Warlock, starting at $43,635. The standard Tradesman version comes equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine, delivering 305 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, with a payload of 1,930 pounds. For those seeking more power, a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 is also available, providing 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, with a payload of 1,810 pounds. Opting for the HEMI engine will cost an additional $2,545.

However, both of these powertrains will be phased out for the final model year. The Ram 1500 Classic will be left with only the new 3.0-liter inline-six Hurricane V6 engine, boasting an impressive 420 horsepower, 469 pound-feet of torque, and a payload of 1,910 pounds. It’s a sign of the changing times and the direction Ram is heading towards.

As the Ram 1500 Classic enters its final year of production, it’s a bittersweet moment for truck enthusiasts. The Classic has left its mark on the industry, but it’s time to make way for new innovations and advancements. With its last hurrah in 2024, the Ram 1500 Classic will be remembered as a true legend in the truck world.

In a shocking turn of events, Bridgewater Interiors, the renowned seat manufacturer for the Ram 1500 Classic, is forced to lay off a staggering 63 employees at its Detroit plant. This unfortunate development comes as the production of the beloved model reaches its untimely demise.

According to Automotive News, the Ram 1500 Classic, known for its exceptional performance and timeless design, has sadly reached a dead end. As a result, Bridgewater Interiors, a key player in the production process, has been left with no choice but to downsize its workforce.

The repercussions of this decision are devastating for both the affected employees and the local community. The 63 individuals, who dedicated their skills and expertise to crafting the impeccable seats that adorned the Ram 1500 Classic, now face an uncertain future. Their livelihoods hang in the balance, as they grapple with the sudden loss of employment.
