Stellantis has canceled the production of a fully electric version of the Ram 1500 pickup, which the North American brand has been developing.
The decision comes after several delays in the pickup that Ram revealed in 2023, which was initially expected to hit the market in 2024. According to reports from “Automotive News,” the company recently informed its suppliers that production would start in the summer of 2027; however, the decision now made is to cancel the production of the electric RAM 1500 due to a decline in demand for 100% electric vehicles.
“As demand for fully electric pickups decreases in North America, Stellantis is reviewing its product strategy and will discontinue the development of a fully electric model”, the company stated in a press release.
Despite this, the North American brand has already confirmed that it will launch next year a pickup with extended range, which combines a small generator powered by a combustion engine with another fully electric one, which will be named Ram 1500 REV.
