Ralf Schumacher Predicts Max Verstappen’s F1 2025 Title Streak to End: Future at Red Bull in Question?

Ralf Schumacher hints that Red Bull is in Chaos: Horner vs. Marko Power Struggle Deepens due to Perez Fallout and F1 Woes

The forecast for Max Verstappen’s prospects in the F1 2025 World Championship appears gloomy, according to former F1 racer Ralf Schumacher. In a blunt assessment, Schumacher has dismissed Verstappen’s chances of clinching a fifth consecutive title, stating that even a repeat of Verstappen’s heroic efforts seen in the previous season wouldn’t suffice this time around.

Despite a challenging 2024 season in which Red Bull and Verstappen struggled to maintain their usual dominance, the Dutch driver stood his ground. Verstappen held off the burgeoning challenge from McLaren’s Lando Norris, clinching a fourth World Championship with two races to spare, even after a stretch of 10 races without a win.

As the new season looms, speculation is rife regarding Red Bull’s readiness for 2025’s challenge. The performance of their new vehicle, the RB21, particularly during a test run in Bahrain, has raised eyebrows. Red Bull’s technical director, Pierre Wache, conceded that the RB21 didn’t always perform as hoped. Verstappen himself seems to have dampened expectations, ruling out a win in the upcoming season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

While addressing an event hosted by Viaplay, Verstappen acknowledged the hurdles, yet hinted at some optimism. “There is work to do,” he admitted, adding that not everything had gone according to plan. “But I think we have some ideas on how to improve the car. We may not be ready for victory in Melbourne, but I’m hopeful we can make strides within a few races.”

However, Schumacher remains skeptical about Verstappen’s chances to extend his title streak. Speaking on the Sky Germany podcast, Schumacher stated, “Verstappen was the savior last year, but he’ll need to adjust to the reality that all things must come to an end. I don’t see him standing a chance.”

Adding to Verstappen’s woes are rumors of a potential switch to Mercedes or Aston Martin. While he’s contracted to Red Bull until 2028, there’s a “performance element” clause, as confirmed by team principal Christian Horner, which could be triggered if Verstappen spends a significant part of F1 2025 outside the top three. Schumacher believes that a disappointing season could push Verstappen towards the exit.

With a new teammate, Liam Lawson, joining the ranks following Sergio Perez’s departure, and a challenging season ahead, Verstappen’s journey in F1 2025 is one to watch. Despite the pessimistic predictions, it’s far too early to count out a driver of Verstappen’s caliber. As the new season unfolds, only time will tell how the story pans out.
