F1 Champ’s Dad Launches Pure x McLaren Electric Scooter Collection

Adam Norris, father and manager of F1 champion Lando Norris, has ventured into the world of electric scooters. Norris, who previously focused on selling e-bikes, has shifted his company, Pure Electric, to develop a new range of urban mobility solutions. The latest addition to their lineup is the Pure x McLaren 2024 collection, now available in the UK.

Pure Electric aims to revolutionize the market and make urban mobility accessible to all. While e-scooters are becoming increasingly common, Pure Electric strives to make their products stand out. Their scooters feature a unique face-forward riding position, ensuring safety and stability. Lando Norris himself endorses and rides these scooters, emphasizing their reliability and extended range.

The Pure x McLaren collection adds a touch of style and collectability to the scooters. Collaborating with the renowned carmaker, Pure Electric incorporates McLaren’s iconic livery and brand name into their designs. The collection includes three different models: Papaya, Black, and Senna.

The Papaya model pays homage to McLaren’s legacy with its vibrant orange livery. The Black Edition, known as the “ride of choice in the F1 paddock,” features a sleek and stealthy design. Lastly, the Senna Edition replicates the helmet livery of F1 legend Ayrton Senna, and it has already sold out.

With the Pure x McLaren collection, Pure Electric combines style, performance, and the endorsement of a racing champion. These electric scooters offer a unique and exciting way to navigate urban environments. Experience the thrill of riding in McLaren-inspired fashion with the Pure x McLaren 2024 collection.

McLaren teams up with Pure Electric to create a high-performance e-scooter. The McLaren version of the Advanced e-scooter boasts a powerful 500W rear-hub motor that reaches a peak of 710W. However, due to European legislation, the scooter is limited to a top speed of 25 kph (15.5 mph). The battery has a capacity of 432-Wh, providing an estimated range of 50 km (31 miles) on a single charge. The e-scooter offers three riding modes, with the range estimate likely referring to the lowest mode.

Designed for urban use, the Pure x McLaren e-scooter is capable of handling inclines of up to 19 degrees. It is particularly well-suited for navigating areas with less-than-ideal infrastructure. This is thanks to the innovative Pure Control Steering System, which automatically centers the handlebars after turning, reducing steering wobble and enhancing stability.

Safety features include a drum brake in the front and an electronic brake in the rear, as well as front and rear lights, and turning lights on the handlebars. These features ensure that the rider remains visible in traffic. The riding position of the scooter also contributes to safety, as it allows for better maneuverability compared to scooters with a tandem foot placement.

The Pure x McLaren is equipped with 10-inch air-filled tubeless tires and weighs 16 kg (35.2 lbs). Its foldable design allows for easy storage in compact spaces, such as offices or apartments. The scooter can support a maximum rider weight of 120 kg (264.5 lbs). Additionally, the app connectivity adds an extra layer of anti-theft protection, allowing the rider to set a PIN to unlock the scooter.

Described as a fusion of world-class racing and world-class riding, the Pure x McLaren e-scooter comes at a slightly higher price than its non-McLaren counterpart. The Papaya Edition and Black models are priced at £899 (approximately $1,150), while the limited production Senna edition costs £1,200 ($1,531).
