Ferrari has the habit of destroying prototypes after completing the development of their models, however, a LaFerrari prototype has escaped and is now going to auction.
The SBX Cars auction site, owned by Youtuber Alex Hirschi, also known as “Supercar Blondie,” is auctioning off this third-phase prototype designated by the factory as F150 Protipo Preserie PS1, as named on the auction site, which is mechanically identical to the production model, but not homologated for road use.
Introduced at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the LaFerrari was one of the most important models from the Maranello brand in the 2010s, featuring a hybrid system inspired by the Formula 1 universe of the time, with a 6.2-liter atmospheric V12 engine and a 120 kW electric motor for a combined power of 780 hp that is sent
to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.
Ferrari built 500 units of the LaFerrari and 210 of the convertible LaFerrari Aperta. The last of each body style was built for charity auctions. However, some prototypes released for sale have increased the number of these cars in circulation.
The auction for the LaFerrari prototype ends on April 24th and so far this exclusive model has already reached a value of over €920,000.
