Produção do Volvo EX90 arranca finalmente nos EUA

After some delays due to issues related to “software development”, Volvo has finally revealed that it has started production of the new electric SUV, the EX90, at the Charleston factory in the USA.

The EX90 is the third 100% electric model from the Swedish brand, and the second developed specifically with this technology, promising to be the safest model ever built by the Swedish brand.

For this, the new Volvo SUV is equipped with the most advanced safety and driving support systems, eight cameras, five radars, and 16 ultrasonic sensors, along with a LiDAR sensor as standard, to control the environment around the vehicle, with all information processed using NVIDIA technology.

The Pilot Assist includes semi-autonomous driving functions that intervene whenever it detects drowsiness in the driver or is facing a risky situation.

It is already known that the seven-seat SUV will be available in a configuration with one or two electric motors and a range of up to 600 km in the WLTP cycle. For the national market, the range includes three equipment levels, Core, Plus, and Ultra, and batteries with two power levels.

So, the Single Motor version comes with an electric motor capable of delivering 279 hp of power that is transmitted to the rear axle. Powering the electric motor is a 109 kWh battery, promising a range of up to 580 km.

As for the Twin Motor variant, it is equipped with all-wheel drive and two motors, one per axle, with a combined power of 408 hp. The 111 kWh battery announces a range of up to 600 km.

On the other hand, the top-of-the-line variant is the Twin Motor Performance, with 517 hp of power, all-wheel drive, and a battery, also, of 111 kWh, which announces a range of up to 590 km.

“The fully electric EX90 marks the beginning of a new era for Volvo Cars, a new era in terms of safety, sustainability, and technology centered on people”, highlighted, Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo.
