The FIA, the governing body of Formula 1, announced on Wednesday that necessary repairs have been made to turns seven and eleven on the track. Welding was carried out in specific areas to address the issues.
Max Verstappen, three-time Formula 1 world champion, expressed his concerns last week regarding the incidents that occurred during the Bahrain pre-season testing. He believes that additional inspections are needed due to the aerodynamic suction created by the new high-downforce cars, which could lead to more incidents. Verstappen also emphasized the importance of being aware of drainage covers on certain tracks.
These recent incidents bring back memories of a more serious accident that resulted in significant damage to Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari during practice for the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix in November.
