The Dakar 2024 ended about two weeks ago and Dacia has now presented its Sandrider – with which it will participate in the legendary race next year, in a technical partnership with Prodrive, which has so far taken care of its Hunters.
The Romanian brand will compete not only in the Dakar, but also in the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC). It counts on the drivers Cristina Gutiérrez, Nasser Al-Attiyah, and Sébastien Loeb, in addition to the experience of Prodrive and the Renault Group. The Sandrider is inspired by the Manifesto concept car and will be involved in the main category, Ultimate T1+.
It has all-wheel drive, a six-speed sequential gearbox, a carbon body, double wishbone suspension, and an innovative electrical system. The weight is about 15kg lighter than comparable prototypes, while the V6 three-liter biturbo engine uses synthetic and sustainable fuel that combines renewable hydrogen with carbon dioxide capture.
