PREMA Invades IndyCar: The European Giants Poised to Shake Up American Racing

In a bombshell announcement, European racing powerhouse PREMA Racing unveiled its audacious leap into the NTT IndyCar Series with a glitzy North Carolina launch event that left the motorsports world buzzing.

After dominating the European open-wheel scene for over four decades, the Italian-based juggernaut is ready to disrupt the American racing landscape. Set to debut on the unforgiving streets of St. Petersburg on March 2, 2025, PREMA’s entry into IndyCar promises nothing short of a seismic shift.

A Powerhouse on a Mission

PREMA’s transition to the U.S. has been nothing short of meticulous. The team unveiled its sleek new headquarters in Fishers, Indiana—a sprawling 100,000-square-foot race shop outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and brimming with ambition. From simulators to data analysis tools, PREMA is sparing no expense to ensure they hit the ground running.

A Star-Studded Lineup and Bold New Colors

The unveiling event at Chevrolet’s facility wasn’t just a show; it was a declaration. PREMA proudly showcased the striking red, green, and white livery adorning their race cars, a nod to their European roots. Alongside their bold machines stood two racing stars—Callum Ilott and Robert Schwartzman—draped in their sharp new race suits.

“It feels like coming home, but with a new, electrifying challenge,” said Ilott. “PREMA doesn’t just enter competitions—they dominate them. This is just the beginning of something massive.”

Heavyweights in Their Corner

PREMA isn’t stepping into the unknown without reinforcements. Ryan Briscoe, a seasoned IndyCar race winner, has been brought on as Sporting Director to guide the team’s strategy, while four-season IndyCar veteran Romain Grosjean has been named the reserve driver, bringing his wealth of experience to the operation.

Chevrolet, the team’s engine partner, is pulling out all the stops, providing PREMA access to cutting-edge simulators and vital technical insights. IndyCar CEO Mark Miles, who was on-site for the launch, underscored the series’ enthusiasm for PREMA’s arrival, calling it “an exciting chapter for American motorsport.”

Eyes Set on March 2025

The event wasn’t just about fanfare; it was a showcase of PREMA’s relentless preparation. From logistics to personnel, the team’s dedication to excellence was palpable. With their first race set for the iconic streets of St. Petersburg, PREMA is ready to translate their European dominance into American glory.

“The statement we’re making is simple,” Ilott declared. “PREMA is here to win.”
