Ryan Preece and Joey Logano faced a harsh reality at Talladega Superspeedway as they were both disqualified from the recent race due to spoiler issues that rocked the NASCAR world.

Preece, who initially finished second in the Jack Link’s 500, fell from grace after his No. 60 RFK Racing Ford Mustang failed to meet post-race inspection requirements. According to section 14.5.8.F of the NASCAR Rule Book, the car must have two shims on the spoiler, but Preece’s team had trespassed the rules by adding three shims. This disqualification plummeted Preece to a disappointing 38th place in the final standings, shattering his hopes of a podium finish.

On the other hand, Logano’s luck also ran out as he crossed the finish line in fifth place, just shy of what could have been his first top-five finish of the season. The No. 22 Team Penske Ford Mustang faced the wrath of post-race inspection for violating section 14.5.8.E and 14.1.P of the NASCAR Rule Book, which dictate the spoiler and overall assembled vehicle rules. Logano’s car was found to be missing a spoiler bolt, leading to his demotion to the last position, 39th place, in the final race standings.

The shocking disqualifications of these two prominent drivers have sent ripples through the NASCAR community, raising questions about adherence to regulations and the consequences of overlooking even the smallest details in such high-stakes races like the one at Talladega Superspeedway.
