Will Power led a group of Team Penske cars and showcased his strength during the testing session. The session took place at the Milwaukee Mile oval, just two days after Power’s IndyCar race victory. The test results mirrored those of the recent race at Road America, with Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin finishing second and third in the times. The test had a dual purpose: allowing drivers to become familiar with the Milwaukee oval, which returned to the calendar after a long absence, and providing the entire paddock with the opportunity to conduct a final test of the new hybrid system. The hybrid components will be introduced during a live race weekend at Mid-Ohio in a few weeks. The test allowed full-time series teams to evaluate the electrified system and allowed drivers to become accustomed to the various regeneration methods available. The test was successful overall, with no reported mechanical issues. After an open race period, a simulated race was held, including warm-up laps and a red flag period. The drivers were able to focus on learning the Milwaukee track and adapting to the hybrid systems. Graham Rahal, who finished the day with the tenth fastest time, expressed his appreciation for the Milwaukee Mile and praised the recent improvements made in the pit area. He also discussed the challenges of adapting to the hybrid components, especially the changes made to his steering wheel. Some teams will have another test with hybrid components later in the week at Nashville Superspeedway, with the final test taking place during the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio from July 5th to 7th.
