Portugal rejoices as thrilling F1 return to Portimao replaces Zandvoort in 2027!

Portugal is set to roar back into the Formula 1 spotlight with a thrilling two-year deal that guarantees the return of the Algarve circuit in 2027 and 2028. This electrifying announcement comes as the Dutch Grand Prix bids farewell to the calendar after its final race in 2026. The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, renowned for its breathtaking layout, previously hosted F1 races during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, and now it’s primed to once again captivate fans with high-speed drama.

F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali couldn’t contain his excitement, declaring, “I’m delighted to see Portimao return to the Formula 1 calendar and for the sport to continue to ignite the passion of our incredible Portuguese fanbase.” His enthusiasm reflects the anticipated thrill that the circuit promises, showcasing exhilarating action from the very first corner to the chequered flag.

Domenicali also highlighted the overwhelming interest and demand for F1 in Portugal, stating, “The interest and demand to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix is the highest that it has ever been.” He extended his gratitude to key figures instrumental in this revival, including Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, Minister of Economy Manuel Castro Almeida, and Secretary of State for Tourism Pedro Machado, among others. Their unwavering support has been pivotal in securing F1’s return to the stunning shores of the Algarve.

As fans around the world gear up for this highly anticipated comeback, the circuit’s vibrant energy is expected to lift spectators out of their seats, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. The countdown to 2027 has begun, and with it, the promise of heart-pounding racing and unparalleled excitement on the horizon. Buckle up, because Formula 1 is ready to make waves in Portugal once again!
