Porsche Plunges Into the Future: DTM Star Ayhancan Güven Set for Thrilling Second Formula E Adventure!

In a groundbreaking move that has motorsport fans buzzing, Porsche has officially confirmed that Ayhancan Güven, the reigning DTM champion, will return to the electrifying world of Formula E for his second outing! The high-stakes Miami E-Prix, scheduled at the Miami International Autodrome on January 31st, will feature a special 40-minute rookie practice session a day prior. This exclusive opportunity is designated solely for rookie drivers, and each team is required to field one participant.

For Güven, this is not just another race; it’s a crucial stepping stone toward a future in this innovative racing series. Last season, he made waves during his Formula E debut in Berlin, where he showcased his extraordinary talent and clocked in as the second-fastest driver during a session that was largely dominated by seasoned Formula 2 winners. The 28-year-old Turkish sensation is generating immense buzz as a frontrunner for a coveted seat in Porsche’s forthcoming second factory team, set to launch with the start of the Gen4 era at the end of 2026.

However, the road to success is not without its obstacles. Currently, Güven faces a significant hurdle: he lacks the necessary FIA super licence points to compete at the top level in Formula E. In a strategic bid to accumulate these points, he will be racing this season in the World Endurance Championship with Manthey, the team with which he clinched the 2025 DTM title. “Ayhancan could break new ground for Porsche Motorsport,” declared Thomas Laudenbach, Porsche Motorsport Vice President. “Until now, our junior development has not been focused on single-seater racing, but with our expansion in 2026/2027, new opportunities will arise.”

Laudenbach further emphasized the challenges that lie ahead for Güven, noting that his experience has predominantly been in sports cars, making the transition to single-seater racing a demanding endeavor. While Güven is poised to compete in the World Endurance Championship, where he can earn the requisite points, the pressure is on for him to prove himself within the Formula E project—starting with his performance in Miami.

Güven himself is thrilled about the prospect of getting back behind the wheel of the Porsche 99X Electric. “I’m really happy about the opportunity to be back in the 99X Electric and to start the Miami weekend for Porsche with the Rookie Free Practice,” he expressed. “It’s always an eye-opening experience to work with such a professional group of people, and I’m looking forward to it.”

With the stakes higher than ever, all eyes will be on Güven as he attempts to carve his name into the annals of motorsport history. Will he rise to the occasion and secure a future in Formula E? The countdown to Miami has begun, and fans are eager to witness the next chapter in this budding racing saga!
