Porsche surprised by high demand for the electric Macan

Porsche apresenta o Macan elétrico com autonomia até 613 km

Orders for the 100% electric Porsche Macan have already started and the Stuttgart-based brand is surprised by the high number of reservations recorded in the first weeks.

Ten years after its launch, the Porsche Macan arrives in its second generation, but now in a completely electric form, with a range of up to 613 km, which has everything to make the new 100% electric model a success.

Oliver Blume, CEO of the Volkswagen Group and Porsche, has already revealed that the first orders for this new electric car have exceeded expectations, although the company does not yet have data on the numbers from some of its largest markets.

Speaking at the brand’s annual press conference, Blume recalled that in the first four weeks, Porsche received over 10,000 reservations for the electric Macan, a number that does not include reservations from China or Japan. “We are impressed with the orders for the electric Macan”, emphasized Oliver Blume.

Remember that the new electric Macan is based on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE), developed and manufactured in collaboration with Audi, which allows for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and has an 800 V electrical architecture. At launch, Porsche revealed that it will offer two all-wheel drive versions that use two electric motors. The Macan 4 with a power of 408 hp and a torque of 650 Nm in Overboost and the Macan Turbo which provides 639 hp and 1130 Nm of torque.

These numbers ensure that the Macan 4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Macan Turbo takes only 3.3 seconds. Both models reach maximum speeds of 220 and 260 km/h, respectively.

Feeding the two electric motors is a lithium-ion battery, with a gross capacity of 100 kWh, weighing 570 kg, consisting of 12 modules of 15 prismatic cells with a new chemical formula (higher energy density, greater energy storage capacity!), and is tucked under the floor, between the axles, optimizing the sporty dynamics of the car with almost equal weight distribution (48%/52%), as is customary in the brand’s sports cars.

In Portugal, the first deliveries of the new electric Macan are scheduled for the second half of the year. As for prices, the Macan 4 starts at €86,793, while the Macan Turbo starts at €118,846.
