Porsche apresenta o Macan elétrico com autonomia até 613 km

Porsche has presented the new Macan, the second electric vehicle of the brand’s E-Performance program, joining the Taycan introduced in 2019.

Ten years after its launch, the Porsche Macan arrives in its second generation, but now fully electric, with a range of up to 613 km and a starting price of €86,793 for the national market.

The new Macan is based on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) developed and manufactured in collaboration with Audi, which allows for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and features an 800 V electrical architecture. Porsche has announced two all-wheel drive versions with two electric motors. The Macan 4 with 408 hp and 650 Nm of torque in Overboost, and the Macan Turbo with 639 hp and 1130 Nm of torque.

These numbers ensure that the Macan 4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Macan Turbo takes only 3.3 seconds. Both models have top speeds of 220 and 260 km/h, respectively.

The two electric motors are powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery, weighing 570 kg, with 12 modules of 15 prismatic cells with a new chemical formula (higher energy density, greater energy storage capacity!), and is located under the floor between the axles, optimizing the sporty dynamics of the car with almost equal weight distribution (48%/52%), as is usual in the German brand’s sports cars.

The maximum charging power of 270 kW allows the battery level to be restored from 10 to 80% in less than 22 minutes at a suitable fast charging station.

At 400 Volt charging stations, a high-voltage switch in the battery allows for charging in separate phases, dividing the 800 Volt battery into two equal parts, each with a nominal voltage of 400 Volts. This allows for particularly efficient charging, without the need for an additional high-voltage booster, of up to 135 kW. AC charging up to 11 kW is possible with a home wallbox.

Porsche announces a combined WLTP cycle range of up to 613 km for the Macan 4 and 591 km for the Turbo variant.

Porsche also revealed that in the new Macan Electric, the torque distribution between the front and rear wheels is electronically controlled and 100% variable, with a preference for rear-wheel drive. The system’s operation depends on both the characteristics and the driving mode (Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, and Off-Road), as well as the surface or vehicle speed, and reacts to any changes in about 10 milliseconds. Additionally, the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), a rear differential lock with electric control, also contributes to traction, driving stability, and lateral dynamics of the Macan Turbo.

The PASM suspension with electronic damping combines with steel or air springs. The new two-valve dampers ensure control of compression and extension. This allows for a greater differentiation between comfort and performance thanks to an expanded damping map, according to Porsche.

For the first time, the Macan offers the optional rear-axle steering system, which allows for a steering angle of up to 5 degrees, reducing the compact turning circle of 11.1 meters, facilitating maneuvers and improving agility in city traffic.

Thanks to its more pronounced proportions and Porsche’s design DNA, the new Macan has a more dynamic look, with a length of 4,784 mm, a width of 1,938 mm, and a height of 1,622 mm. The new model is equipped with wheels up to 22 inches in size and larger tires on the rear wheels. The wheelbase is 86 mm longer than its predecessor (2,893 mm), which is compensated by shorter front and rear sections.

In the front section, the headlights are divided into two parts: the upper light units, consisting of the four-point daytime running lights, emphasize the width of the car. The main modules of the headlights with LED Matrix technology, available as an option, are positioned in the lower area.

At the rear, the heavily pronounced wheel arches give the car a muscular appearance, while a 3D light strip connects the two taillights and features the Porsche logo in the center.

With a completely flat floor and “generous” dimensions, the interior provides plenty of space, with the seats positioned lower, up to 15 mm in the rear and 28 mm for the front seats.

In addition, the trunk has a capacity of up to 540 liters. There is also a second storage compartment under the hood with a capacity of 84 liters. This is 136 liters more than its predecessor.

In addition to the high-quality finishes, made from recycled materials, the highlight of the Macan’s interior is the technological upgrade, thanks to the new software based on the Android Automotive OS system, which is faster and has new features.

In this way, the 100% electric Macan features three screens, including the 12.6” curved instrument panel and the 10.9” central screen. For the first time in the model, the front passenger can also view and control the infotainment system or stream video content while the vehicle is in motion through an optional 10.9” screen.

In addition, the Porsche Driver Experience includes a head-up display with Augmented Reality technology. Visual elements, such as navigation arrows, are visually integrated into the real world.

Porsche has already announced that the new electric Macan is now available for order in the national market and that the first deliveries are scheduled for the second half of the year. As for prices, the Macan 4 starts at € 86,793, while the Macan Turbo starts at € 118,846.
