Polestar has announced that it has introduced battery state of health certificates (BSOH) for pre-owned Polestar 2 vehicles, meaning used vehicles.
These certificates aim to provide complete transparency regarding the condition and capacity of the battery in each vehicle. The certificate indicates the percentage of the battery’s usable capacity, allowing customers to purchase a used Polestar 2 with the confidence that the battery is in good condition.
Since its launch in 2020, the Polestar 2 has received more than 20 Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, enabling the vehicle to continuously evolve over time. These updates have brought efficiency and range improvements through battery management, new features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and access to popular apps such as Waze and YouTube.
Thanks to regular software updates, Polestar models in the pre-owned program are equipped with the latest features.
The Swedish electric vehicle brand also revealed that the issuance of each certificate requires the vehicle to undergo a 112-point inspection at an official service point. Additionally, Polestar provides independent certifications of mileage, maintenance, and ownership, which verify the history of each used vehicle.
Each model in the Polestar pre-owned program also includes a 24-month warranty, as well as the remaining coverage of the 8-year battery warranty.
“With the introduction of the new battery health state certificate, we provide another reason for electric vehicle buyers to choose a pre-owned Polestar 2. With a 112-point inspection, a 24-month warranty, roadside assistance, and our commitment to Over-the-Air software updates, we offer the best possible version of a used Polestar 2.”, said Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar.
