Problemas de pit stop persistem na Sauber F1, diz Bottas.

Zhou Guanyu, from China, made a pit stop during the Australian Grand Prix, the third stage of the Formula 1 World Championship, at Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia, on 03/24/2024.

Valtteri Bottas acknowledged that the recurring issue with Sauber’s pit stops in the 2024 Formula 1 season has not been completely resolved yet, before the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend.

The Sauber team has been facing significant delays during pit stops in races, which has cost the team potential points.

In the first three races, the team failed to score any points in the Constructors’ Championship due to these issues.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, a representative of the Sauber team, revealed that the new equipment for pit stops was to blame and assured that preventive measures will be implemented.

Despite the improvements made in the procedure and materials used, Bottas admits that the issue has not been completely resolved yet.

Although there is a chance that the problem may arise again in Suzuka, the Finnish driver remains hopeful that a permanent solution will be found before the Chinese Grand Prix.

Although there has been progress and measures taken, the problem is not a quick fix.

However, a complete solution is being planned and is expected to be implemented in China, although there is still some uncertainty.

Bottas revealed that the issue was discovered during pre-season testing in Bahrain and believes there may be a connection to temperature.

When asked about possible concerns when passing through the pit stop area, the former Mercedes driver stated that he tries not to think about it and hopes for a smooth weekend.

The ex-Mercedes driver also mentioned that the team apologized to him for the frustrating issue he faced in the pits in Melbourne, while competing in the top ten.

“Yes, the team apologized, which is fair,” he said. “We are all in this together, and I was disappointed after the race, just like the whole team. These things shouldn’t happen.

“But we are taking this seriously. It is now a priority to solve the problem.”

However, the 34-year-old driver is optimistic about the performance of his C44 car and hopes that this weekend in Japan will confirm the team’s recent progress.

“I was pleased with the overall performance in Melbourne,” he reflected. “I felt comfortable in the car throughout the weekend.

“And I know that, in a normal race, we should have been in the top ten, despite the challenges.

“So that is reassuring. It’s good to see that we have made some improvements since Jeddah, and that gives me more confidence for this weekend. We have an upgrade here with the new floor. It’s a completely different track, but I am looking forward to see if we can replicate or even surpass our performance in Melbourne,” he stated.

“It’s improving, but this weekend will be the confirmation of our real progress. Also, with the new upgrade we have here, I believe this weekend will solidify it.”
