Pierre Gasly’s Secret Football Dreams Unveiled at Monaco GP Charity Match

In a surprising twist, Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly recently confessed his childhood dream of becoming a professional football player. This revelation came to light as he captained one of the teams in the prestigious Nationale Piloti charity match held just before the highly anticipated Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

Gasly, who is also a co-owner of French football club FC Versailles, had the honor of leading his team onto the field, donning the captain’s armband alongside other F1 racers like Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, and Isack Hadjar. The match, which featured a mix of drivers, former football pros, and celebrities, took place at the iconic Stade Louis II, home of AS Monaco.

The event not only provided a unique opportunity for friendly competition but also aimed at supporting charitable causes. Proceeds from the match were directed towards local initiatives like the Be Safe campaign against drink driving and the Jules Bianchi Association.

Gasly expressed his joy at participating in the match, stating, “The enjoyment is probably a hundred out of 10, I love football. I love playing. I love the feeling.” He reminisced about his childhood dreams and the thrill of playing the sport he adored. Despite shifting his focus to motorsport, Gasly’s passion for football remains evident.

When questioned about his football idol, Gasly opted for the safe route, avoiding the debate between Messi and Ronaldo. However, his teammate Charles Leclerc was quick to remind him of French legend Zinedine Zidane, whom Gasly admired greatly in his youth.

Gasly’s sentiments towards his teammate Hadjar were mixed, praising his effort but questioning his skills on the field. While ruling out a professional football career for Hadjar, Gasly commended his teamwork and dedication, drawing parallels between his performance on the pitch and on the track.

The Monaco GP charity match not only showcased the lighter side of F1 drivers but also highlighted their camaraderie and support for charitable causes. Gasly’s revelation of his childhood aspirations added a personal touch to the event, resonating with fans and shedding light on the multifaceted personalities within the world of Formula 1.
