Pierre Gasly and Alpine Poised to Shake Up Constructors’ Battle in Qatar

Pierre Gasly is gearing up for a critical third season with Alpine, but 2025 will be a completely different challenge—a new teammate, a revamped leadership structure, and a team looking to prove it still belongs in Formula 1’s upper midfield.

After a rollercoaster 2024 campaign, Gasly believes Alpine can fight for a top-five finish in the Constructors’ Championship, an ambitious target given the team’s rocky start last season and the upheaval behind the scenes.

💬 Gasly on Alpine’s 2025 expectations:
“I’ll go with a top five in the constructors’, because that’s what I want, and I think that’s definitely achievable. Obviously, deep inside me, I’d like more than that, but I’ve got to be objective and know that it’s going to be a tight field.”

From Crisis to Comeback? How Alpine Is Rebuilding for the Future

Alpine’s sixth-place finish in 2024 was a major turnaround after a disastrous start to the season. A heavy, underpowered car left them off the pace, but a stunning performance in Brazil—where Gasly finished third behind Max Verstappen and Esteban Ocon—proved they could still deliver big results in the right conditions.

🔹 Key changes for 2025:
✅ Jack Doohan replaces Esteban Ocon, bringing in fresh energy alongside Gasly.
✅ Flavio Briatore takes charge as Executive Advisor, shaking up the team’s management.
✅ Bruno Famin is out as Team Principal, replaced by Oliver Oakes.
✅ Alpine will ditch Renault engines and become a Mercedes customer from 2026.

With Briatore leading the charge, Alpine isn’t just aiming for small gains—they’re plotting a long-term resurgence. The Italian has set 2027 as the target for a title challenge, meaning the next two seasons will be crucial for laying the foundation.

Can Alpine Crack the Top Five in 2025? Gasly Thinks So—But It Won’t Be Easy

Gasly’s top-five goal is one spot higher than Alpine finished last season, but the midfield is stacked:

🔹 Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren are all likely title contenders.
🔹 Aston Martin remains a major force.
🔹 Racing Bulls and Haas are looking to make gains.

To break into the top five, Alpine will need to consistently outperform Aston Martin and capitalize on any slip-ups from the big four—a daunting but not impossible task.

Jack Doohan vs. Franco Colapinto: Alpine’s 2025 Wildcard

One of the biggest unknowns for Alpine this season is Jack Doohan. The Australian rookie will make his full-time debut, replacing Ocon—but he won’t have long to prove himself.

💬 Alpine’s backup plan? Franco Colapinto.

The highly-rated Argentine driver has been signed as reserve, meaning if Doohan fails to deliver, Alpine already has a Plan B in place.

The Verdict: Is Alpine’s Ambition Realistic?

Gasly’s top-five target is bold, but Alpine is a team in transition. With management upheaval, a new driver lineup, and a looming 2026 engine switch, 2025 will be about stability and progress rather than outright miracles.

But if Gasly and Doohan can deliver consistent results, and if Briatore’s leadership injects new life into the squad, Alpine could emerge as the biggest midfield threat of 2025.

💬 Briatore’s vision for the future:
“We are building a team to fight for championships by 2027.”

For now, Alpine isn’t quite there—but Gasly is ready to lead the charge.
