Alpine Racing: Pierre Gasly Declares Team is Now in a ‘Different League’ as F1 2026 Season Heats Up!

In a jaw-dropping turnaround, Pierre Gasly is reveling in a newfound competitive spirit as Alpine Racing surges forward in the 2026 Formula 1 season. After enduring a dismal 2025, where scoring points felt like a Herculean task, the Enstone squad has kicked off the current season with an electrifying performance that has the paddock buzzing!

Gone are the days of underwhelming results, as Gasly's recent sixth-place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix has him proclaiming that Alpine is now in a “different league” compared to previous years. “I must say I am very happy,” Gasly expressed after the race, though he couldn't shake off the frustration of narrowly missing out on fifth place. “Deep inside me, the very competitive Pierre is a little annoyed not to get that P5. Because I really felt comfortable in fifth before the safety car was pulling away.”

The stark contrast from last year's struggles stems from a significant upgrade in power and performance. After Alpine's Renault power unit faltered under the pressure of the 2022 regulations, the French team made a pivotal shift, aligning themselves with Mercedes as a customer team. This strategic move has proven to be a game-changer.

Gasly's race, however, was not without its challenges. He lamented the impact of the safety car on his momentum, stating, “Eventually, it happened, I bunched up the whole field. At the restart, for whatever reason, I didn’t have the power when I went on power out of the last corner.” This critical moment allowed his competitors to capitalize, leading to a tense battle throughout the race where he ultimately fell short of securing a higher finish.

Yet, as the race unfolded, Gasly found himself in a thrilling contest, where he described the final laps as “quali-lap after quali-lap.” His determination shone through as he chased down his rivals, but he ultimately finished just two seconds short of a higher position. “It was still a very good day for the team,” he concluded, highlighting the collective effort and progress being made.

Reflecting on the stark contrast between this year and the last, Gasly commented, “Looking at 2025. Where we were, and where we are now. It’s a completely different league.” His confidence is palpable after achieving points in both of the season's opening rounds, setting a promising tone for the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix. With major teams facing their own struggles, Alpine stands poised to seize the moment and ascend the ranks.

Gasly’s sentiments echo a sense of optimism that is contagious within the team. With improvements that are “not unfixable limitations,” the future looks bright for Alpine. As they prepare for the challenges ahead, fans and competitors alike will be watching closely to see if Alpine can sustain this momentum and solidify their place among the frontrunners in Formula 1.

The stage is set for Alpine to capitalize on their newfound strength, and Pierre Gasly is leading the charge with fervor and ambition. The world of F1 is watching—will Alpine continue to rise or will they falter under pressure? One thing is for certain: the 2026 season is shaping up to be one for the history books!
