Peugeot’s Struggle for Supremacy: Vandoorne Reveals High Stakes Battle for Podium Dominance

Peugeot’s Struggle in World Endurance Championship: Vandoorne Disappointed with Current Performance

Peugeot’s entry into the FIA World Endurance Championship has not been as successful as expected, with driver Stoffel Vandoorne expressing his disappointment in their current standing. The team, currently in seventh place among eight manufacturers in the Hypercar World Endurance Manufacturers’ Championship, has fallen short of their ambitions for podium finishes and victories.

“We always aim high, obviously, and we want to fight for podiums and victories. So far, we’ve not really been able to do that on a regular basis,” Vandoorne lamented. Despite some instances where race conditions favored them, the Belgian driver stressed the need to improve their pure performance to achieve better results.

Partnered with Hypercar rookie Malthe Jakobsen and Le Mans winner Loic Duval in the #94 Peugeot 9X8, Vandoorne has yet to secure any points this season, finishing outside the top 10 in both races. The team’s best results so far have been two eighth-place finishes in Qatar and Italy.

Looking ahead to the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, Vandoorne acknowledged the competitive nature of the championship, emphasizing the team’s goal to have both cars finish in the top 10. Jakobsen echoed this sentiment, highlighting the need for hard work and dedication to achieve success in the highly competitive field.

Despite the team’s efforts, Vandoorne expressed concerns about the performance of the Peugeot 9X8 compared to its rivals. “We need to improve in every aspect to be fair. It’s all the areas where we can do better, especially with such high competition right now,” Vandoorne explained, emphasizing the team’s need to strive for perfection and avoid mistakes.

As Peugeot aims to enhance its performance in the World Endurance Championship, Vandoorne and his teammates are focused on overcoming their current challenges and making a mark in the upcoming races.
