Peugeot has unveiled the new E-5008, the 100% electric SUV with seven seats as standard with a range of up to 660 kilometers. The new model, which reinforces the electrification strategy of the French brand, uses, like the E-3008, the STLA Medium platform and offers a range of zero emissions engines that provide an electric range of 500 to 660 km, including a Dual Motor version with two electric motors and a long-range version.
The entry into the range is made with the Electric 210 version, with two-wheel drive and equipped with a motor installed on the front axle with 214 hp and 343 Nm, powered by a 73 kWh battery, and promising a range of 500 km.
The other two-wheel drive variant is the Electric 230 Long Range, with a motor of 231 hp and a torque of 342 Nm, powered by a 98 kWh battery for an announced range of 660 km.
At the top of the range is the all-wheel drive version, Electric 320 Dual Motor with 2 motors, one per axle, offering a total power of 320 hp, combining an electric motor on the front axle of 214 hp and 343 Nm, with a second electric motor installed on the rear axle of 109 hp and 166 Nm.
The two electric motors are powered by a 73 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 500 km.
The high-voltage lithium-ion battery with a 400V NMC (nickel, manganese, and cobalt) chemical composition is located under the floor and can be charged at 11 kW on alternating current (AC) as standard, with an optional 22 kW charging capability.
For fast charging with direct current, the Mode 4 plug of the new E-5008 can accept power up to 160 kW, allowing for the recovery of 100 km of range in just 10 minutes and a 20% to 80% recharge in 30 minutes, according to Peugeot.
In addition to the 100% electric variants, the new Peugeot 5008 also features two electrified mechanics, a 48 V Hybrid that combines a 1.2 PureTech combustion engine, with 136 hp, with an electric motor installed in the six-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
In addition, in 2025 a plug-in hybrid variant with 195 hp will arrive, combining a 150 hp combustion engine and a 125 hp electric motor, and announcing an electric mode autonomy of up to 79 km.
In terms of aesthetics, the new Peugeot 5008 stands out for its strong SUV character, which exudes robustness and safety, combined with a very dynamic silhouette.
The relatively high waistline and the very pronounced shoulders of the model give it a strong presence on the road, as do its generous dimensions (length: 4.79 m, width: 1.89 m, height: 1.69 m).
The design of the new 5008 suggests movement. The slope of the rear window is highlighted by sophisticated side design elements, as well as the front, which features the new lighting signature and the innovative front grille that blends with the body color.
The front section stands out with the sophisticated grille that is accentuated by a thin black strip that wraps around the front of the 5008 and incorporates ultra-compact LED headlights in all versions. Additionally, the new 5008 features 19’’ and 20’’ wheels, with the new Peugeot emblem in the center.
In the interior, the standout feature is the 21’’ Panoramic i-Cockpit floating screen (available as standard in the Allure and GT versions), a compact steering wheel with new controls, ambient lighting, smartphone wireless charging, as well as natural language voice recognition, which allows access to infotainment functions, heating and air conditioning, as well as the phone. This voice recognition now allows distinguishing between commands made by the driver or the passenger. In addition, artificial intelligence, ChatGPT, will also be available in the 5008, to enable interaction between occupants and the vehicle.
Peugeot has already revealed that the new 5008 and E-5508 will hit the market next autumn, with a range that will offer two versions: Allure and GT.
