Perez suggests Red Bull car switch to ‘revolutionize’ his Formula 1 campaign

Perez has disclosed that Red Bull will be implementing a modification on his vehicle at the Belgian Grand Prix in order to put an end to his recent struggles in Formula 1. The Mexican driver has been under scrutiny and there have been rumors of a potential replacement during the summer break if his performance does not improve. Perez has only managed to score 21 points in the last seven races, leaving him in seventh place in the championship, a staggering 141 points behind his teammate Max Verstappen. However, Perez remains optimistic after his strong recovery in the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he finished in seventh place after crashing during qualifying. He believes that the changes Red Bull will make to his car will rectify the issues and allow him to turn his fortunes around. Perez expressed his confidence in the progress they made in Hungary and hopes that these adjustments will have a significant impact on their season moving forward.

Perez agrees with Red Bull team principal Christian Horner’s assessment that the RB20 has a limited operating range, but he revealed that a modification will be made to improve the balance of his car. He acknowledges that the current package has been challenging to handle, but he is hopeful that the upcoming tweak will enhance his connection with the vehicle. The specifics of the adjustment were not disclosed, but Perez anticipates that it will have a positive effect on his overall experience with the car. He is eager to test it out during the first practice session and assess its performance. Perez also acknowledges the progress they have already made in Hungary and believes that even if the modification does not yield the desired results, they have taken significant steps forward in improving the car’s performance.

Perez has clarified that the modification has been tested on the simulator successfully, although he is aware that limited practice time may be available due to the possibility of rain.

“I have experimented with that on the simulation. The experience was positive,” he elaborated. “It provided me with a sense of connection with the car, so I am hopeful that it will translate well on the actual track. We will have to wait and see.

“The weather forecast is not promising, so it is likely that we won’t have many opportunities for running, but we will see.”

Perez has typically encountered difficulties when Red Bull introduces updates to the car, and the six-time F1 race winner has explained that this pattern is not a coincidence.

“At the moment, I feel like there has been something that we have introduced in several of the previous race weekends,” he added.

“Whether it is an upgrade, a change in setup, or the tires, these cars are extremely sensitive, which has narrowed down the optimal performance window.

“As I mentioned, there will be other teams facing similar challenges.

Some teams have already experienced this situation, although it is more noticeable with Red Bull. However, it is not a major concern. I believe our focus should be directed towards overcoming these obstacles.”
